This banner is an edition of a banner that was designed to accompany the sculpture "The Spirit of Haida Gwaii". The following quote describes this figure in "The Spirit of Haida Gwaii". Bill Reid's description of the Bear Mother: The Bear Mother, being human, is looking over [the Bear Father's] shoulder into the future, concerned more with her children than with her legend. After all, they wandered in from another myth, the one about Good Bear and Bad Bear and how they changed, so she has to keep a sharp eye on them. |
