Photograph depicts a partially constructed Haida longhouse. The interior house pole is prominently featured. On verso, bottom left corner: 3/4 Haida house project, UBC carving shed, 1961 (Bill Reid & Doug Cranmer) On verso, bottom right corner: Takao Tanabe 1961-2009 For other photographs of the interior house pole, see photographs 14-16 in this series. This Haida longhouse was commissioned by the University of British Columbia for display in Totem Park. The rest of the longhouse was built after. The totem pole was relocated to the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) in 1978 and can be viewed there today. For more information see the MOA online collection, object number A50031. |
