Item is a headdress primarily made of alder wood. It has been carved into the shape of a wolf's head and painted in red, black, and white. Opercula (shells) have been used as teeth. Hanging from the back is red felt and leather used to wear the headdress. Written inside mask: RD '80 This mask was made by Haida artist Robert Davidson as a gift for Bill Reid's 60th birthday. Davidson designed the wolf headdress to honour Bill Reid's Wolf clan crest. |
