Photograph depicts Bill Reid carving a totem pole. The totem pole is partially carved, showing a beaver. Reid is working outside surrounded by various pieces of discarded wood. It is likely that the photograph was taken in autumn due to Reid's Cowichan sweater. For other photographs of this pole, see photographs 6 and 8 in this series. The totem pole was one of seven commissioned by the University of British Columbia for display in Totem Park. The totem pole was relocated to the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) in 1978 and can be viewed there today. For more information see the MOA online collection, object number A50034. |
