Photograph depicts a close up of the upper middle of a totem pole. It features a human face with the dorsal fin of the dogfish below it protruding from its nose. Wings can be seen alongside the face. On verso, bottom left corner: 3/4 Haida house project, UBC carving shed. 1961 (Bill Reib [sic] & Doug Cranmer [)] For other photographs of this pole, see photographs 9, 11, and 12 in this series. The totem pole was designed as the frontal totem pole for one of the Haida longhouses commissioned by the University of British Columbia for display in Totem Park. The totem pole was relocated to the Museum of Anthropology (MOA) in 1978 and can be viewed there today. For more information see the MOA online collection, object number A50030. |
