Photograph depicts a detail of a mortuary pole. The pole is pressed against a snag tree. This photograph was taken in Haida territory. The pole in this photograph was one of the twin mortuary poles in the southern village of Cumshewa. There would be cylinders above the figures representing the number of potlatches. |
