Series consists of 22 photographic prints. These prints are part of the collection taken by Adelaide de Menil in the 1960s. They were featured in her book "Out of the Silence" which was created in partnership with Bill Reid, who wrote the text. She later gifted the photographs to the Bill Reid Centre in 2010. In 2011, the Bill Reid Centre gave copies of the photographs to the Bill Reid Foundation for the exhibiton "Revisiting the Silence", which addressed the controversial topic of the removal of old totem poles to museums for conservation. |
